Sender IDs

A sender ID is the name your recipients see as the sender, such as ACME: 3 to 11 letters, digits, spaces, hyphens or periods. Every message is sent from one of yours.

Getting one

Request a sender ID in the dashboard, under Sender IDs, saying what you will use it for, with a sample message and your company name, and attaching a supporting document if you have one. 500Calls reviews it. Its status is pending during the review, then approved or rejected. An approved sender ID can later be suspended, and you can withdraw a request, which makes it withdrawn.

Can I send from it?

Approval makes a sender ID ready to send straight away. The API's usable field says whether you can send from it now: it is true for an approved sender ID that is active on at least one route. A suspended or withdrawn sender ID is not usable, and neither is an approved one that is not active on any route, which the dashboard shows as Approved – activating.

When from is not usable

Sending from a sender ID you cannot use fails the whole request with 422 sender_id_not_approved. If it is usable but not active on any route that serves one recipient's country, only that recipient is rejected, with the message error code sender_id_not_approved.
